Dr. Debonair Oates-Primus began their work experience as the Assistant Professor of English at the Community College of Philadelphia in January 2008. They held this position until January 2022. During their time at the college, they also served as the Coordinator of the Black Studies Program from September 2019 to January 2022 and as the Coordinator of the Diversity Fellowship Program from May 2017 to January 2022. Additionally, Dr. Oates-Primus worked as an Associate Professor of English at the college from May 2021 to January 2022.
In January 2022, Dr. Oates-Primus transitioned to the role of Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Oak View Group.
Dr. Debonair Oates-Primus earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in English at Saint Joseph's University. Dr. Oates-Primus then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, completing their studies in 2017.
