Kevin Melsby

Kevin Melsby has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of operations and event management. Kevin started their career in 2001 as a Building Manager at St. Cloud State University National Hockey Center. Kevin then moved on to work as a Guest Services Associate at the Minneapolis Convention Center in 2003. In 2004, they joined SMG Sioux Falls, where they served as an Operations Manager, assisting the Director of Operations in managing the arena and theater facilities. Kevin worked in this role until 2005.

In 2005, Kevin joined the American Airlines Center as an Event Coordinator, where they supervised and monitored event workflow for various departments. Kevin later became an Operations Manager at the same venue, responsible for changeovers, equipment, and staffing for NBA/NHL events. Kevin also developed policies and procedures and conducted staff evaluations.

From 2015 to 2017, Kevin worked as the Director of Operations at the SMG Save Mart Center. Kevin then joined Olympia Entertainment, where they held the position of Director of Events and Amphitheater Operations from 2017 to 2020.

Most recently, Kevin served as the Senior Director of Operations at Oak View Group from 2020 to 2023. In this role, they oversaw the strategic vision for the arena and event day experiences for various large-scale music events, sports, and community events. Kevin managed the organizational structure and was responsible for hiring, training, and managing the operations department.

Throughout their career, Kevin has demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in ice installation, maintenance, repair, and building procedures.

Kevin Melsby's education history includes completing an Associate's degree in automotive service from Dunwoody College of Technology in 1999. Kevin then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Recreation/Sports Management from St. Cloud State University from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, Kevin attended the Venue Management School at oglebay from 2009 to 2010. Kevin also completed various training programs at the Academy for Venue Safety and Security, including Core Training in 2011, Advanced Training in 2012, and Facility Management Law School in 2012. Kevin further pursued their education at the Academy of Production Technology in the same year, focusing on Electricity, Power Distribution, and Control Systems. Kevin also obtained certification as a Trained Crowd Manager from IAVM in 2011.
