Anthony Finlay

Anthony Finlay has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies. Anthony started their career at FD Learning, where they worked as a Senior/Lead Developer and later became a Developer/Team Leader. During this time, they focused on improving database performance for a Library Management System.

Anthony then joined Tribal Group, where they held various roles. As a Development Team Leader, they led a team providing a web-based learning environment system to the UK Further Education sector. Anthony also pioneered the role of Development DBA within the company, transforming the product's database infrastructure and making it more successful and consistent. Lastly, they served as the Lead for the UK's leading FE college management information system, utilizing technologies such as WPF, C#, and ASP.Net.

After Tribal Group, Anthony joined learndirect as a Team Leader/Senior Developer. Their initial responsibilities included working on the Oracle platform and primarily using PL/SQL. Anthony later transitioned into the company's Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence initiative, working with the SQL Server BI/Reporting toolset. Anthony played a pivotal role in a successful project for McDonald's, which involved requirements capture, analysis, full ownership of reports, data quality checks, support, and mentoring.

Currently, Anthony works at Oakbrook Finance as a Data Engineering Lead.

Anthony Finlay completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from The University of Sheffield. Anthony then pursued further studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science degree in Expert Systems Engineering, specializing in Computer Science.
