Zack Pitt-Smith

Zack Pitt-Smith has served as the Music Director for the Oakland Unified School District since 2007, leading a comprehensive middle school music program at Edna Brewer that includes a variety of bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, and percussion groups. In addition to this role, Zack has been a freelance woodwind performer since 2003. Zack holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology from Brown University, obtained between 1993 and 1997, and has also studied at Berklee College of Music from 1994 to 1995. Notable achievements include the Jazz Combo receiving Unanimous Superior at a CMEA competition during the 2012-2013 school year.
