Amy Tharpe Peterson

Amy Tharpe Peterson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as a Board Member and Co-Chair of Board Advancement at Oakland Zoo since January 2023, Amy has a longstanding commitment to community service demonstrated by involvement with the YMCA of the East Bay as a Past Board Member and Strategic Planning Co-Chair since August 2014. As Director of Social Responsibility at the Port of Oakland since April 2013, Amy also contributed as a Board Member for the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation from August 2014 until December 2020. Previous positions include Director of Policy at the SF Mayor's Office of Housing, Project Manager in Washington DC City Government, and Director of the Knowledge Initiative at Fannie Mae Foundation. Amy holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School and has participated in leadership development programs through McKinsey & Company and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
