Mark Little

Mark Little is a highly experienced professional in the field of computer science, currently serving as the Vice President of Java Runtimes and Java Integration at IBM since July 2025. Little holds the position of Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and has been a Professor at Newcastle University since 1991, where contributions include overseeing research efforts and mentoring students. Additionally, Little has extensive experience as a Chief Architect at Arjuna Technologies, a Visiting Professor at INSA de Lyon, and serves on various advisory boards. With a strong background in engineering at Red Hat, including roles such as VP Engineering and CTO of JBoss, Little has been instrumental in steering technical directions and standards in enterprise middleware. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science and a BSc in Physics and Computer Science, both obtained from Newcastle University.
