Joe Comar

Joe Comar, PE, PMP, currently serves as the Director of Capital Improvements and Deputy Chief Facilities Officer at Oberlin College since April 2021. Previously, Joe held the position of Senior Project Manager and Civil/Municipal Group Manager at The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. from September 2019 to April 2021. Joe's extensive experience includes roles in the U.S. Coast Guard, where Joe was the Executive Officer at the Cleveland Civil Engineering Unit, overseeing a significant design and construction organization, and served as Public Works Officer at the Coast Guard Academy, managing facilities operations for a key academic institution. Joe also directed a substantial construction program while serving as Chief of Construction at the Cleveland Civil Engineering Unit. Educational qualifications include an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
