Hugh C. Sutherland

Hugh is a partner in the Business & Finance Department. His practice includes completing business transactions with an emphasis on public finance, health care finance, project finance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Hugh is analytical and enjoys structuring complex transactions, whether large municipal finance, commercial real estate, or business or non-profit entities. He excels at listening and empathizing with his clients, often making a point to look at each matter from the client’s point of view. He has guided his clients to successful closings of hundreds of millions of dollars of public finance transactions, acting as bond counsel, underwriters counsel, borrower counsel or special disclosure counsel

In his free time, Hugh is an avid reader who also enjoys an active lifestyle. He can often be found going for walks and completing yard work.
