Derek Pitt has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Derek is currently the Managing Director - Corporate Credits at O'Brien-Staley Partners since August 2019. Prior to this role, Derek was a Principal at Amesbury Capital LLC from September 2017 to July 2019, focusing on proprietary trading, M&A, and restructuring advisory. Before that, they worked as a Principal and part of the investment team at Wayzata Investment Partners from October 2015 to February 2017 and from August 2007 to September 2015, respectively. At Black River Asset Mgmt, Derek served as Managing Director/Portfolio Manager from January 1999 to August 2007. Derek also gained experience as a Portfolio Manager/Analyst at Generali from August 1994 to March 1998 and as a Financial Analyst - Commercial Lending at Bank of America from July 1993 to July 1994.
Derek Pitt holds an MBA degree in Finance from Michigan State University - Eli Broad College of Business, obtained from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, they earned a BBA degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University between 1984 and 1988. Derek also completed their high school education at Topeka West High School from 1980 to 1984. Additionally, they have an Investment Management Certificate (UK) from the Financial Services Authority UK.
