Robert Kosara

Robert Kosara has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Robert is currently working as a Data Visualization Developer at Observable since March 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Lead Research Staff at Salesforce from April 2020 to February 2022.

Robert also has extensive experience in the field of research and academia. Robert worked at Tableau Software as a Senior Research Scientist from February 2016 to April 2020, and as a Research Scientist from January 2012 to January 2016. Robert was an Advisor at Visual.ly from June 2011 to November 2014.

Before transitioning to research, Robert was a faculty member at UNC Charlotte. Robert held the position of Associate Professor from July 2011 to September 2012 and Assistant Professor from August 2005 to June 2011. During their time at UNC Charlotte, they provided guidance to Ph.D. and M.S. students.

Robert's earlier work experience includes being a Senior Computer Scientist at Inte:Ligand from August 2004 to July 2005, and a Key Researcher at VRVis Research Center from February 2002 to July 2004.

Robert Kosara completed their education at Technische Universität Wien, where they earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the same institution, studying from 1994 to 1999.
