Brian is a retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral with over 35 years of service in executive and operational positions across naval, joint, and information warfare (IW) disciplines (intelligence, cyber, networks/communications, and oceanography/ meteorology). He culminated his career as Commander, Naval Information Forces, the Navy’s top command responsible for the readiness and combat effectiveness of IW forces worldwide, ashore and afloat. As a flag officer, he also served as Director, IW Warfare Integration on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, managing the Navy’s IW investment portfolio; Deputy Commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Space, U.S. Strategic Command, contributing to the standup of both the National Space Defense Center, and ultimately, the U.S. Space Command; and Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command executing the Navy’s physical battlespace awareness program including manned and unmanned systems. Brian is a qualified Surface Warfare Officer, Information Warfare Officer, and U.S. Air Force Master Space Operator. He holds a B.S. in Oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy; an M.S in Oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego; and an M.S. in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
