Jian Sun

Jian Sun is an Associate Professor at Ocean University of China since September 2021, with prior experience as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Penn State University in early 2019 and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Calgary from September 2013 to January 2019. Throughout the academic career, Jian Sun served as a Teaching Assistant for multiple geophysics courses, including GOPH453 Mining Geophysics and GOPH355 Introduction to Geophysics. Earlier experience includes a PhD Research Assistant role at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and internships focused on GPU applications in seismic data and velocity modeling. Jian Sun holds a PhD in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of Calgary, and additional advanced studies from the China University of Geosciences and a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree from Shandong University of Science and Technology.
