Leonardo Valenzuela Pérez

Leonardo Valenzuela Pérez, PhD, currently serves as the Director of International Partnerships and Program Director for the Global Ecosystem for Ocean Solutions at Ocean Visions since June 2022. In addition to a self-employed role as a Climate and Human Rights Consultant since May 2017, Leonardo's previous experience includes a position as a researcher at the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, focusing on indigenous-led climate justice and migration issues, and as a community organizer at South Boston en Acción advocating for tenant rights. Additional consulting experience includes advising the Chilean Ministry of Energy, while academic roles include a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Jyväskylä and instructor at the University of Sydney. Leonardo holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Sydney, alongside degrees in Urban and Regional Planning and Sociology from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a Project Management certificate from Cornell University.
