Ian Vallance

Ian Vallance is an experienced professional in materials innovation and development, currently serving as the Materials Innovation Director at OCEANIUM since November 2020, focusing on sustainable packaging solutions derived from seaweed. Prior to this role, Ian held positions including Senior Scientist at Teknek, where the development of adhesive roll products was a key responsibility, and Technical Manager at Rockwell Solutions Ltd, overseeing food packaging film formulations. Ian's career also includes roles in commercialization of biomedical technologies at Giltech Limited, consultancy in the plastics and polymer sector at Impact Solutions, project management for construction upgrades at ATS Automation Tooling Systems, and technology transfer for bio-plastics at the National Non-Food Crop Centre. Ian Vallance holds an MBA in Technical Innovation from The Open University and a B.Sc and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow.
