Carole Switzer has extensive experience in corporate governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC). Carole began their career in 1986 as a Partner at McKenna & Cuneo, where they were involved in environmental law practice including compliance counseling, litigation, legislative and regulatory representation. In 1996, they became a Partner at Reid & Priest, and then in 1998 they became a Partner at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly. In 2003, Carole co-founded and became the President of the Open Compliance & Ethics Group (OCEG), a global nonprofit think tank. At OCEG, they were a recognized leader in GRC and was frequently published in leading business magazines and lectured on GRC internationally. Carole also directed the development of the OCEG Framework, including the open source OCEG Red Book GRC Capability Model and the accompanying GRC Assessment Tools (known as the Burgundy Book). In 2011, Carole became the Board Chair of GRC Certify.
Carole Switzer obtained their B.A. in Communications from Case Western Reserve University between 1974 and 1978. Carole then attended The George Washington University Law School from 1979 to 1982, where they earned their JD in Law. In April 2016, Carole obtained their GRC Professional Certification from GRC Certify. Carole then obtained their GRC Auditor certification from GRC Certify in August 2020, and most recently, they obtained their Certified Policy Management Pro (CPMP) certification from GRC Certify in February 2021.
