Sylvia Arifin

Sylvia runs People Operations at Octant. She is responsible for driving processes that make for healthy, high-performing teams, and scaling culture. Sylvia has extensive experience supporting highly technical teams. Prior to joining Octant, Sylvia was the first HR hire at Invitae and led the People team through the organization's rapid growth, supporting functions like compensation and benefits, employee experience, people analytics, learning and development, talent acquisition, and M&A. She also ran HR at Carnegie Mellon University's Silicon Valley campus where she supported engineering faculty as well as researchers and engineers at NASA Ames. Sylvia has a B.S. in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from University of California, Davis with concentrations in Strategy and Organizational Behavior.
