Margaret Cooney

Margaret Cooney is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the energy and consulting sectors. Currently serving as the Director at Taylor Pass Wines Limited and the Chief Operating Officer at Octopus Energy since June 2020, Margaret has played a key role in expanding Octopus Energy in New Zealand. Past roles include Chief Customer Officer overseeing growth in the APAC region and Head of Powershop New Zealand, where Margaret led the company to multiple industry accolades. Consulting engagements through Cooney Consulting have focused on the electricity and technology sectors, while earlier positions encompassed management roles in companies such as Flick Electric Co. and Constant Commerce, as well as significant contributions to market reform at OFWAT. Margaret holds a dual degree in Law and Economics from the University of Canterbury and furthered education at the University of California, Berkeley.
