Michael A. Albert

Dr. Michael A. Albert, Jr., M.D. is a vitreoretinal surgeon with Retina Consultants of Alabama, P.C. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Callahan Eye Hospital and is an Associate Professor with the UAB Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Albert received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, graduated with honors from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, and completed his residency and surgical fellowship with the UAB Department of Ophthalmology. He is a recipient of the Senior Honor Award from both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists for having authored and co-authored numerous journal articles, for having participated in several clinical trials, and for having presented scientific platform presentations and instructional courses at state, national, and international ophthalmology societal meetings. His areas of practice include the diagnostic evaluation, medical treatment, and surgical management of diseases of the vitreous, retina, macula, and choroid. Dr. Albert also enjoys the privilege of training ophthalmology residents and vitreoretinal surgical fellows at his institution.
