Thomas Dowrick has a diverse range of work experience in the field of software engineering and medical physics. Thomas is currently working as a Technical Lead in Software Engineering at Odin Vision since February 2023. Prior to this, they held various roles at UCL, including EPSRC Research Software Engineering Fellow, Senior Research Associate at the Wellcome EPSRC Centre for Surgical and Interventional Sciences, and Senior Research Associate in Medical Physics. Their responsibilities involved software development for surgical datasets and clinical applications, scikit-surgery software libraries, and software and hardware design for neural activity imaging. Thomas also worked as a Contract Hardware/Software Developer and completed their PhD in Electronic Engineering/Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Liverpool, focusing on the design of low-power analog/digital integrated circuits for neural network applications.
Thomas Dowrick received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Liverpool, from 2006 to 2010. Prior to their PhD, they completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Liverpool from 2002 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications including TensorFlow in Practice Specialization, Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Convolutional Neural Networks, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, and Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, all from Coursera, in various months of 2019.
