Joseph Pilotte has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Joseph is currently working at Oerth Bio as a Scientist since August 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Research Scientist at Oerth Bio from December 2019 to August 2022. In 2018, Joseph worked at The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) as a Research Associate, where they developed and implemented biochemical and cell-based assays for the discovery and characterization of small-molecule kinase inhibitors. Their responsibilities included expression, purification, and analysis of protein kinases. Joseph also contributed to the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research's study of the genes controlling and modulating root growth in rice plants. Before joining SGC, they worked as a Clinical Lab Technician at UNC Health Care from July 2014 to March 2016. Joseph's early research experience includes working as a Research Assistant at North Carolina State University from May 2012 to August 2013 under the supervision of Dr. Javier Brumos and Dr. Jose Alonso.

Joseph Pilotte earned a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from North Carolina State University in the years 2011 to 2014. Joseph further pursued their education and obtained a Master's Degree in Physiology from the same university during the period of 2015 to 2017.
