Steven Bremmer

Principal Scientist at Oerth Bio

Steven Bremmer has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Steven is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Oerth Bio since April 2022. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at BASF, including Senior Scientist II from October 2021 to April 2022, Senior Scientist from December 2016 to October 2021, and Scientist from October 2012 to December 2016. At BASF, they worked in the Metabolite and Protein Analytics group, where they performed various protein characterization techniques to support Plant Sciences projects.

Before joining BASF, Steven worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan from December 2009 to September 2012. Steven'sresearch focused on developing peptide-like sensors for protease activity. Steven successfully developed a novel artificial peptide sequence that responded to protease activity by transitioning a solution to a hydrogel.

At the start of their career, Steven worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Purdue University from August 2004 to May 2009. During this time, they taught biochemistry courses, hosted material review sessions, graded assignments, and provided assistance during office hours. Steven also taught a semester of analytical biochemistry.

Steven's earliest employment was at L Perrigo Co, where they worked as a Laboratory Technician and later got promoted to Lab Trainer from September 2001 to September 2003. Steven'sresponsibilities included quality control testing of raw materials and finished products using USP methods and HPLC assays. As a Lab Trainer, they provided technical, stewardship, and safety training to new employees.

Overall, Steven Bremmer has gained extensive experience in scientific research, protein characterization, teaching, and laboratory operations throughout their career.

Steven Bremmer obtained their Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Biology, General from Grand Rapids Community College, where they studied from 1996 to 1998. Steven then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Grand Valley State University, completing their studies from 1998 to 2001. Building upon their undergraduate education, they continued their academic journey at Purdue University, where they achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry, graduating in 2009.
