Sophie McIvor

Sophie McIvor is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in leading communications and engagement strategies. Currently serving as the Head of Communications at the Office for Students since September 2023, McIvor has also held the position of Director of Communications and Engagement at The Alan Turing Institute since June 2016, where oversight includes two key teams focused on communications and marketing as well as events and engagement. Previously, McIvor was the Head of Media Relations at The British Library, where a significant achievement included winning the CIPR 'Best Media Relations' award for the Magna Carta campaign. Earlier roles include Campaign Media Officer at the Natural History Museum and Senior Press Officer at Little, Brown Book Group, showcasing a diverse background in both the cultural and publishing sectors. McIvor holds a 2:1 degree in English and French from the University of Nottingham.
