Garrett Badeau

Garrett Badeau has extensive work experience in software development and engineering. Garrett currently works at Office Hours as a Software Engineer, primarily focusing on back-end development and contributing to the OfficeHours knowledge sharing platform. Their responsibilities include delivering features using tools such as node, typescript, mongo, react, terraform, and AWS.

Before joining Office Hours, Garrett founded GB Consulting in 2020, where they worked as a Software Developer. Garrett also has experience as a Carpenter at GB Construction LLC in 2020.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Garrett worked as a Software Engineer at Dealer.com from 2018 to 2019. In this role, they contributed to the migration, extension, and simplification of existing code as part of a large-scale AWS migration. Garrett worked both independently and with team members in developing new code, designs, and tests using Java, Springboot, Terraform, Docker, and Git.

From 2014 to 2016, Garrett worked at AOL as a (Senior) Software Engineer. Garrett also gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern at West Coast Metabolomics Center (Fiehn Lab) in 2014.

Additionally, Garrett has teaching experience. Garrett worked as an Associate Instructor for Short Calculus at the University of California from June to August 2014. Garrett also served as a Teaching Assistant from September 2012 to June 2014.

Before their career in software development, Garrett worked as a Tutoring Supervisor at Tutor Time from October 2009 to May 2012. In this role, they paired students with tutors, motivated uninterested students, and assisted the program director with managing difficult students. Garrett also performed general tasks such as sweeping the floors.

Garrett Badeau began their education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics from 2009 to 2012. Garrett then pursued further studies at the University of California, Davis, where they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Applied Mathematics between 2012 and 2014. Most recently, Garrett attended the University of Vermont from 2019 to 2020, completing a Master of Teaching degree in Secondary Education and Teaching.
