Angel Herrera Jr has a diverse work experience, starting in 2000 as a Specialist in the Illinois National Guard until 2006. Angel then worked as a Veterans Service Officer at the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs from 2008 to 2014. In 2014, they became a Financial Analyst at The Kraft Heinz Company for a year. Angel later joined the Real Estate Portfolio as an Owner in 2007 before becoming part of the Illinois State Treasurer's team in 2015. In addition to their formal education, Angel has obtained various certifications, including the FSA Credential from SASB - Sustainability Accounting Standards Board in 2020 and certifications in Operational Due Diligence, Real Assets, and Private Equity for the Limited Partner from the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) in 2022 and 2023.
