Derek Dexheimer, CFA, CFP®, CTP has a wide range of work experience in various financial roles. Derek is currently serving as the Deputy Director of Fiscal Operations at the Illinois State Treasurer since February 2022. Previously, they worked at the Illinois State Board of Education from June 2021 to February 2022 as the Director of Funding and Disbursements. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Budget Analyst at the same organization from September 2018 to May 2021. Derek also has experience as a Trust Investment Officer at the Bank of Springfield from December 2016 to September 2018. Derek began their career as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, where they worked from May 2014 to November 2016. Before entering the financial industry, Derek owned and operated the Springfield Running Center from November 2002 to December 2013.

Derek Dexheimer, CFA, CFP®, CTP, holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the University of Illinois Springfield, which they obtained from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General, also at the University of Illinois Springfield, from 1996 to 1998. In addition to their academic achievements, Derek Dexheimer has obtained several certifications, including the Certified Treasury Professional from the Association for Financial Professionals in June 2023 and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder from the CFA Institute in 2020. Derek has also completed the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) as recognized by the CFP Board.
