Neil Kenward has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Neil currently holds the position of Director for Strategy and Decarbonisation at Ofgem since April 2020. Prior to this, they served as Deputy Director, Energy and Environment at HM Treasury from February 2015 to April 2020. Neil also worked as Deputy Director at Cabinet Office from September 2009 to January 2015. Neil held the role of Deputy Head of Policy Planning Staff at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office from June 2006 to December 2008. Neil was the Head of Emerging Markets at HM Treasury from June 2005 to June 2006. Prior to that, they worked as an Economic/Policy Adviser at the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit from October 2004 to June 2005. Neil began their career at the Foreign Office as an Economic Adviser in the Economic Policy Department from 2001 to 2004. Before joining the public sector, they worked as a Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers from September 1994 to April 2001, where their focus areas included international/economic consulting projects for the government and aid sectors, with a particular emphasis on electricity sector regulation, FDI promotion, and aid-funded projects in Africa. Neil also spent 18 months on a secondment to the PwC office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Neil Kenward attended Glyn School for Boys from 1984 to 1991. Neil then pursued higher education at the University of Oxford from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Politics, Philosophy & Economics.
