Niall McDonald

Niall McDonald has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Niall started their career at ScottishPower as a Graduate Trainee in 1999 before transitioning into a role as a Transmission Engineer. In 2004, they moved to SSE plc as a Field Unit Engineer. Over the years at SSE plc, Niall took on various roles including Field Unit Manager, Investment Management Mobiliser, Distribution Major Projects Manager, and a part of the RIIO-ED1 Team. In 2014, they joined SSE Networks as a Network Investment Manager, where they focused on developing and managing distribution business investment plans. Currently, Niall holds the position of Chief Engineer at Ofgem, where they provide engineering advice and technical support across all activities and was previously a Principal Engineer primarily involved in engineering support for the RIIO price controls.

Niall McDonald attended the University of Strathclyde from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
