Richard Zappier, CHFM

Richard Zappier, CHFM, has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Richard started in 1975 as a building and bridges foreman and conductor for Metro-North commuter r.r. Richard then transitioned to property management at Capelli Industries from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 1998, they worked as the Director of Physical Plant Ops/Safety Director for National HealthCare Corporation. Following that, they took on the role of construction supervisor for maronda homes of florida from 2000 to 2005. In 2008, they became the Director of Facilities for Port St. Lucie Hospital, Oglethorpe Corp., and also worked as a life safety/plant operations director for Oglethorpe, Inc. simultaneously. In 2015, Richard served as the Director E.O.C. Fire/Life Safety for Dynamic Life Recovery, and later became a consultant, safety director, and facility manager. Their most recent roles include Director of Operations at Citadel Care Centers starting in 2016, and currently they hold the title of Director of Plant Ops/Safety Director at Port St. Lucie Hospital since 2019.

Richard Zappier, CHFM, has a diverse education history. Richard began their studies in 1989, focusing on the field of study in human working environment and cycles. Richard attended Pace University-New York from 1995 to 1996, where they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Energy Management and Systems Technology/Technician. During this time, they also attended the National Fire Protection Association from 1995 to 2013, specializing in life safety.

As for additional certifications, Richard obtained the Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager certification from IHA in July 2013. Richard also acquired a certification in biohazardous waste in March 2013, although the institution from which they obtained this certification is unspecified.
