Ohio Auditor of State
Scott Smith has extensive experience in performance auditing and investigations. Currently serving as Performance Project Manager and Senior Performance Analyst at Auditor of State - Ohio since 2014, Scott conducts audits of state and local government entities, focusing on internal controls and efficiency. Additionally, Scott works as a Contract Investigator for both OMNIPLEX World Services Corporation and General Dynamics Information Technology, also since 2014. Previously, Scott served as a Scouting Representative for College Prospects of America, Inc. from April 2014 to April 2021, aiding students in their college pursuits. Prior experience includes a tenure as Senior Investigator at USIS from 1999 to 2014, specializing in national security and public trust background investigations. Scott holds a Master's degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor's degree from Kenyon College in English Language and Literature.

Under the direction of Auditor Keith Faber, the Auditor of State's office is responsible for auditing and providing financial services to all public offices in Ohio. This encompasses more than 5,800 entities including cities, counties, villages, townships, schools, state universities and public libraries as well as all state agencies, boards and commissions. The office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government. The office is divided among eight regions, including a state region.
