Daraka Satcher

Daraka E. Satcher is a government affairs and economic development professional with more than two decades of experience in Atlanta and Washington, DC. Recently, he has worked on a number of projects in Atlanta – including the redevelopment of Turner Field and Herndon Square, a major mixed-used project close to downtown.

Daraka has had a career filled with experience in various capacities. He has served in executive roles in the U.S. Department of Commerce and as the primary advisor to the Secretary of Commerce. In these roles he worked on issues ranging from local and state governments to organizations such as the International Trade Administration and the Economic Development Administration. Before his presidential appointment, Satcher worked in the U.S. Congress for eight years – ending his time there as the first Chief of Staff in the office of Congressman Hank Johnson.

A graduate of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2014, Satcher received a Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morehouse College. He currently serves on the Fulton County Board of Ethics, as a member of the board of directors for the Georgia District Export Council and Voorhees College, and on the advisory board of Skyland Trail – a nationally recognized mental health treatment organization based in Atlanta.
