Stacey L. Bennett

General Counsel at Ohio University

Stacey Bennett is the current General Counsel at Ohio University. Prior to their current position, they served as the Associate Vice President and Senior Associate General Counsel at The Ohio State University from May 2012 to February 2020. In this role, they managed the Business and Transactional Group of attorneys and provided legal services and advice on major transactions to clients across all campus departments, colleges, and business units. Bennett also provided specialized guidance and legal counsel on business, compliance, and regulatory matters to the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center -- James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute.

From June 2010 to May 2012, Bennett served as the Chief of the Business Counsel Section at the Ohio Attorney General's Office. In this role, they oversaw a team of attorneys who provided legal counsel to state agencies on a variety of business-related matters, including procurement, contracting, real estate, and employment law.

Bennett began their legal career as a law clerk to Chief Justice Andon Amaraich at the Supreme Court of Micronesia from March 2004 to May 2005. Stacey then went on to work as an enforcement attorney at the Federal Election Commission from August 2005 to July 2006. In January 2008, they joined Verizon Business as an assistant general counsel, where they worked until December 2009.

Stacey Bennett attended Yale Law School and earned their Doctor of Law degree. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Wheaton College, where they majored in literature. Stacey also attended Towson High School.
