John McWhorter

John McWhorter joined OhioHealth in July 2020 as our Chief Operating Officer. In this executive management role, he is charged with successfully developing and executing the strategy for growth and assuring the organizational vision is linked to operations. John has responsibility for operations for central Ohio and regional hospitals, nursing, shared services, customer ease and access, and lean strategy. His extensive operational experience and success in leading in highly complex and matrixed environments are key to advancing our mission at OhioHealth.

Prior to joining OhioHealth, John served as Chief Operating Officer for Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas, Texas, and prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of their North Texas Division. John previously held leadership positions with St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.

He received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and both a Master of Healthcare Administration and Doctor of Science in Health Services from University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is involved in multiple faith and charitable mission ministries and recently completed a six-year term on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Board of Directors.
