Michael Östh has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Michael started their career as a Master's Thesis worker in the Optoelectronics department at KDDI R&D Laboratories Inc. in Tokyo, Japan, where they designed and produced optical components using CAD and cleanroom techniques. Michael furthered their education by pursuing a PhD in Magnetic Materials at Uppsala University, where they conducted experimental research on various magnetic materials and published scientific papers on their findings. In addition to their research, Östh also worked as a part-time study counselor for engineering students at Uppsala University. Following their studies, Östh worked at Zwick GmbH & Co KG as a Sales Engineer for material testing equipment, providing technical sales consultancy, installation, calibration, and service for different testing machines. Subsequently, they joined Swerea, where they served as a Lab Manager for Mechanical Testing and a Researcher in Mechanical Properties, responsible for managing the mechanical testing laboratory, maintaining equipment, leading projects, and providing technical expertise to the metal industry. Most recently, Östh joined Öhlins Racing AB as a Laboratory Engineer for mechanical testing, focusing on mechanical performance and functionality testing.

Michael Östh began their education at Torsbergskolan in Bollnäs from 1992 to 1995, where they pursued a degree in the naturvetenskaplig linje. Following this, they attended Uppsala University from 1996 to 2003, earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Materials Engineering. Subsequently, from 2003 to 2006, they continued their education at Uppsala University, engaging in PhD studies with a Licentiate degree in Solid state physics, Magnetic materials, and Spinglass phenomena.
