Amuna Wagner is a North Africa Correspondent at OkayAfrica, starting in February 2024, and serves as Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief at Kandaka, an online platform focusing on gender and justice through creative media since August 2017. Previously, Amuna worked as a journalist for AMAKA Studio from September 2021 to June 2023, covering Politics & Society, Arts & Culture, and Music. Experience also includes facilitating a Women's Studies program at the Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences from August 2021 to August 2022 and coordinating projects at the Goethe-Institut e.V. aimed at fostering connections among journalists from North Africa, West Asia, and Europe. Additional roles involve writing for online magazines under Meeting of Minds UK and contributing to various initiatives at Goethe-Institut Kairo. Amuna Wagner's educational background includes a current MFA in Literary Writing at Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, a BA in International Relations and Arabic from SOAS University of London, and participation in a summer school focused on African Leadership.
