Elvira Vitu

Seed Phase Grant Recipient At OIST Innovation at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University

Elvira Vitu is a highly accomplished Principal Scientist at Teknova since June 2021, with a strong background in drug development and synthetic biology. Prior experience includes serving as a Project Leader and Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from April 2014 to April 2021, where Elvira led a DARPA-funded project on programmable organoids. Elvira's research includes pioneering work in synthetic poly(A) processing and the design of viral vectors for cancer immunotherapy during earlier roles as a Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow. Additionally, Elvira held a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at Tufts University School of Medicine, contributing to significant findings on herpes virus entry mechanisms. Elvira earned a PhD in Structural Biology from the Weizman Institute of Science, completed in 2009.
