Richard Mercer

Richard Mercer is a Performance Science Doctoral Fellow at the Oklahoma City Thunder, focusing on the intersection of stressors, recovery, and athlete responses within basketball performance. As an Industry Professional Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney, Richard conceptualizes and leads research projects while collaborating with the Oklahoma City Thunder to enhance athlete care models. Richard has held various positions, including Performance Science Intern and Sports Scientist, where responsibilities included implementing athlete monitoring systems and analyzing performance data across multiple sports. Richard holds a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Technology Sydney, a Master's in Biokinesiology from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor's in Human Biology & Health Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
