Kara Smith

Kara Smith is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as General Counsel for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority since May 2021. Prior to this role, Kara was the Chief Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Civil Rights Enforcement at the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office from May 2014 to May 2021, where responsibilities included leading a team of attorneys and managing civil rights issues. Additional experience includes serving as Deputy General Counsel for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services, General Counsel for the Office of Personnel Management, and as an attorney in private practice, focusing on various areas of law. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma. Kara has also been involved in community service as a Board Member of the YWCA Oklahoma City and a Trustee for the Oklahoma Bar Foundation.
