Joey Upper

Joey Upper currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Old Salem Museums & Gardens, leading marketing initiatives for North Carolina's leading living history site since May 2023. As a Digital/Social Media Specialist, Joey has been self-employed since December 2015, focusing on the outdoor industry. Previous roles include Content Marketing Specialist at Sonoran Desert Institute, Lead Staff Writer for Concealed Nation, Managing Editor and Lead Staff Writer at CrossBreed Holsters, and Content Creator and Social Media Editor Intern at Liftable Media Inc. Joey also directed Battle Camps at Living History Kids from May 2009 to August 2015. Educational credentials include a Master's in Business Administration focused on Business Administration and Project Management from The Citadel, expected to be completed in May 2025, and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earned in 2017.
