Joe Gaffigan

President & Co-founder O2 Sponsor Finance at Old Second Bank

Joe Gaffigan has a diverse work experience in the financial industry spanning over several decades. Joe has held various leadership positions in different companies.

In 1987, Joe Gaffigan started their career as a Vice President at American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago, where they managed a division in the Asset Based Lending Group and was responsible for a $250 million portfolio.

In 1997, they joined Old Kent Financial as a Senior Vice President before moving on to Fifth Third Bank, where they started the Structured Finance Group (SFG) in Chicago and managed the Dealer Finance Group and the Healthcare Finance Group.

In 2005, Joe Gaffigan co-founded MFC Capital Funding, where they served as the President, CEO, and Co-Founder. MFC Capital Funding provided leveraged cash flow and asset-based loans to lower middle-market manufacturing, distribution, and service companies.

From 2012 to 2021, they worked at TCF Structured Finance, holding the positions of Group President - TCF Structured Finance, President & Co-Founder of TCF Capital Funding, and National Director (Head) of TCF Middle Market.

In 2021, Joe Gaffigan joined Huntington National Bank as the President of Huntington Sponsor Finance.

Furthermore, Joe Gaffigan has been involved in various non-profit organizations. Joe served as the Past Chairman and Emeritus Member of the Board of Directors at LINK Unlimited Scholars, a scholarship and mentoring organization focused on economically disadvantaged African American students. Joe also served as the Past Chairman and Emeritus Trustee of La Lumiere School.

Currently, Joe Gaffigan is the President & Co-Founder of O2 Sponsor Finance, a division of Old Second National Bank. O2 Sponsor Finance provides leveraged senior secured cash flow loans to lower middle-market manufacturing, distribution, and service companies on a national basis.

Joe Gaffigan completed their high school education at La Lumiere School from 1980 to 1983, earning a High School Diploma. Joe then pursued higher education at Georgetown University from 1983 to 1987, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a focus on Finance. Additionally, Joe continued their studies and completed an MBA in Finance at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 1989 to 1991.
