Gilles de Smet

Gilles De Smet is an R&D Engineer at Oleon since September 2023, bringing extensive academic and practical experience in chemistry. From March 2018 to October 2023, Gilles De Smet conducted research as a PhD student within the organic synthesis group at the University of Antwerp, collaborating closely with the UniversitéLibre de Bruxelles. Prior to this, Gilles De Smet served as a PhD candidate at Universiteit Gent in late 2017 and gained laboratory experience as a Laboratory Assistant at Soleras Advanced Coatings in 2016, where responsibilities included sample preparation and various analytical techniques. Additionally, from 2014 to 2016, Gilles De Smet provided tutoring services to support study coaching and exam preparation. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering Technology with a focus on Chemistry from KU Leuven.
