Xian-Zhen is an independent and broad-minded thinker with a strong commitment to problem-solving. One of her guiding principles in business is to invest in the right people for the job and give them the opportunity to excel. With an incisive intellect and decisive, no-nonsense approach, her ability to inspire others around her is a key asset. She is passionate about a range of issues, including the future direction of the country and the right to education and well-being for all.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College, MA, USA, an experience that was to form much of her current thinking and outlook. She then obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law, and went on to attend the Bar Vocational Course in London. She returned to Malaysia and in September 2006, joined Shook Lin & Bok. The following year, she was called to the Bar and remained with the firm until June 2009.
In October that same year, she left the legal profession to join the OMESTI Group as Executive Assistant to the CEO. Less than two years later, in 2011, she was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director. She is closely involved in mapping the new strategic direction of the organisation.
