Michele Lawrence Jawando

Michele Lawrence Jawando has held various positions throughout their career. Michele is currently a Senior Vice President at Omidyar Network and an Inaugural Board Member at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy. Michele is also a Member at Chief and a Board Member at HIGHER HEIGHTS FOR AMERICA. Previously, Jawando worked at Google as the Head of Progressive Engagement and Strategic Partnership Counsel. Prior to that, they served as Vice President at the Center for American Progress and as General Counsel and Senior Advisor to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in the United States Senate. Michele also worked at People For The American Way as the Legislative Counsel and Campaign Director of Election Protection. Earlier in their career, Jawando gained experience as a Public Policy Extern at Glaxo Smith Kline and as a Fellow for Congressman Gregory Meeks in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Michele Lawrence Jawando completed their Bachelor of Arts in English with a Pre-Law focus at Hampton University from 1998 to 2002. Michele then went on to earn their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law between 2002 and 2005.
