Sonny Bardhan

Sonny Bardhan has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Sonny is currently the Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer at Omidyar Network since January 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Director and Global Head of the Strategy Group at Omidyar Network from January 2019 to December 2021. Sonny also worked as a Director of Intellectual Capital at Omidyar Network from December 2016 to December 2018, and as a Principal of Intellectual Capital from November 2014 to December 2016.

Apart from Omidyar Network, Sonny Bardhan has held roles such as Chair and Board Member at Partners for a New Economy starting from January 2022, and a member of the Steering Committee at Economic Change Unit from July 2019 to September 2022.

Prior to their work at Omidyar Network, Bardhan worked with Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) in Strategy and Investments from June 2010 to November 2014. Sonny also had experience as a Consultant (MPA/ID Intern) at Innovations for Poverty Action in 2009, and as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company from February 2006 to September 2008.

Bardhan's earlier experiences include working as a Consultant (MBA Intern) at Royal Bafokeng Nation in 2005 and as a Ventures Consultant (MBA Intern) at UnLtd in 2005. Sonny also worked as a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One from 2000 to 2004 and had a Summer Internship (Undergrad) at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in 1999.

Sonny Bardhan attended the University of Cambridge from 1996 to 2000, where they obtained an MA in Natural Sciences with a focus on Maths & Chemistry. In 2004, they attended the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, earning an MBA in Finance and Social Enterprise. Sonny later pursued their education at Harvard University from 2008 to 2010, obtaining an MPA/ID with a specialization in International Development.
