Juan Luis Melero Ollonarte

Computational Product Lead at Omniscope

Juan Luis Melero Ollonarte has held a range of roles in the scientific field since 2015. In 2015, they were a Trainee at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), where they conducted polyphenol analysis and studied the effects of polyphenols in metabolic syndrome. From 2016 to 2018, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at URV, generating programs to extract data from NCBI-GEO database and analyzing them to find genetic profilings and differential gene expression between experimental groups. Juan Luis also analyzed differential gene expression in psoriasis disease. In 2019, they were an Occupational Trainee at The Australian National University. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Technical Research Assistant at PRBB (Barcelona Biomedical Research Park). Since 2020, they have been a Lecturer at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, and since 2021, they have held the roles of Junior Computational Biologist and Computational Biologist at Omniscope.

Juan Luis Melero Ollonarte has a background in Biomatemática, bioinformática y biología computacional, research, data analysis, and bioinformatics. Juan Luis completed their MSc Bioinformatics for Health Science at Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Degree from Universitat Rovira i Virgili between 2013 and 2017. Juan Luis is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. Additionally, they have certifications in Grade 6 Music Theory, Grade 5 Guitar, and Grade 2 Violin from ABRSM.
