Hao Yu

Hao Yu is a Senior Optical Engineer at OMNIVISION, focusing on the optical design and characterization of CMOS imaging sensors since December 2022. Previously, Hao worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Southern University of Science & Technology from May 2021 to September 2022 and served as a Research Scientist at Facebook from September 2019 to April 2021, where the design and characterization of liquid crystal polarization gratings for augmented reality and virtual reality applications were conducted. Earlier, Hao was a Research Assistant at Kent State University, where innovative plasmonic metasurfaces with ultra-high UV-Vis transmittance for photopatterning were invented, and also acted as a Teaching Assistant for College Physics Lab. Hao holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, expected in December 2025, and earned a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Chemical Physics from Kent State University, alongside a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China.
