Shane J. has over 17 years of professional software engineering experience. Shane began their career in 2003 as a Software Developer at KIP Information Network, where they designed and implemented a 3-tiered J2EE/EJB MLM system. In 2004, Shane moved on to Quest Software as a Senior Software Developer, where they ported the core C/C++ Foglight product to Solaris 10 (x86). In 2007, Shane became a Software Engineer at RAD International, where they created a C++ image-scanning module and designed and implemented an OSGi-based 'auto-updater' for remotely installed OSGi clients. In 2010, Shane worked as a Software Developer at BlackBerry, where they created the original prototypes and the embedded networking stack using C + lwIP. Shane also worked as a Software Engineer at ION Trading, where they created the Straight-Through Processing (STP) Java interface for a number of trade types for the Anvil v9 trading server. In 2014, Shane returned to Dejero as a Senior Software Developer, where they built a custom Debian Linux distribution and created various C++ / Go connectivity solutions. In 2016, Shane worked as a Solutions Design IT Specialist at TD. In 2020, Shane joined Mirantis as a Senior Software Engineer, where they are currently the maintainer for the Mirantis-backed open-source project "k0s" and is developing an automatic cluster-wide update feature for the Enterprise offering. Shane is currently employed at Onc.AI as a Senior Software Engineer.

Shane J. attended Humber College from 1996 to 1999, where they studied Computer Engineering (Honours).
