One Billion Acts of Peace
Dawn Gifford Engle is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in peacebuilding and advocacy. As a co-founder and executive director of the PeaceJam Foundation since March 1996, Dawn has played a pivotal role in fostering youth engagement in global issues. In addition, Dawn has served as a colleague with the Nobel Women's Initiative since 2006. Between 2013 and 2016, Dawn held the position of director for One Billion Acts of Peace. Dawn's earlier career in the United States Senate, from January 1977 to September 1989, involved roles such as chief of staff, legislative director, and legislative assistant. Dawn's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Maryland, where studies occurred from 1977 to 1979, following initial education at Western Michigan University from 1975 to 1977.
