Dr. Arda Yildirim

Dr. Arda Yildirim has extensive work experience in various research and technical roles. Dr. Arda is currently working as a Technical Lead at one • fıve, where their responsibilities include scouting and evaluating sustainable technologies and materials for the packaging industry. Dr. Arda also leads product development and prototyping of sustainable packaging solutions.

Prior to their current position, Dr. Yildirim was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Hamburg University of Technology from 2020 to 2022. During this time, they managed and ran an interdisciplinary project focusing on improving hydrogen storage and carbon capture & storage using tailor-made Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and novel porous materials. Dr. Arda also mentored a group of Ph.D. students.

Before that, Dr. Yildirim worked as a Guest Researcher at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung from 2019 to 2022. Dr. Arda also served as a Research Associate and Ph.D. Student at the same institution from 2015 to 2019, where they led and mentored an international group of Ph.D. and Master students.

Dr. Yildirim started their career as a Chemical Engineer Trainee in the Production Department at Tezol Tutun, Kagit Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. in 2010. Dr. Arda gained knowledge about tissue paper making processes and provided energy efficiency solutions.

Dr. Arda also worked as a Chemical Engineer Trainee in the Quality Control and Assurance Departments at Batıçim Batı Anadolu Çimento Sanayii A.Ş. in 2009. Dr. Arda gained hands-on experience in cement production and led an R&D project to improve milling efficiency.

In 2013, Dr. Yildirim worked as a Research Associate and M.Sc. Student at Fraunhofer-Institut für Angewandte Polymerforschung IAP, where they synthesized polyurethane microcapsules for smart material applications and coordinated trials between the Pilot Plant and the Microencapsulation Department. Dr. Arda also served as an intern at the same institution for a brief period.

Overall, Dr. Arda Yildirim has a strong background in research, technical leadership, project management, and mentoring, especially within the fields of sustainable technologies, materials, and packaging solutions.

Dr. Arda Yildirim's education history begins with their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi / Middle East Technical University, which they obtained from 2006 to 2012. Dr. Arda then pursued a Master's degree in Polymer Science from Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, Technical University of Berlin, and University of Potsdam, which they completed from 2012 to 2014.

Following their Master's, Dr. Yildirim furthered their education at Technische Universität Berlin, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Soft Matter Physics and Engineering from 2015 to 2019.
