Reshma Vijayakumaran

Senior Scientist II at oNKo-innate

Reshma Vijayakumaran has a diverse work experience in the field of biological research. Reshma started their career as a Summer Research Fellow at the National Centre for Biological Sciences in 2010, where they gained experience in handling and maintaining Drosophila strains and performing staging experiments on mutants. Reshma then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Biotechnology at Anna University from 2007 to 2011, where they conducted an undergraduate thesis on characterizing the interaction between adhesin, Antigen 85B of M. tuberculosis, and Fibronectin using various bioinformatic tools and molecular dynamics simulations.

Reshma's next position was at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they worked as a Teaching Assistant from September 2012 to December 2013. During their time there, they also pursued a Master of Science (by research) from July 2011 to October 2014. Reshma'sresearch focused on studying the transcriptional regulation of a putative GTPase that is overexpressed in many cancers. Reshma performed experiments such as luciferase assays, ChIP-PCR, EMSA, and mutational analysis to identify major transcription factors affecting gene regulation.

In 2015, Reshma joined the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre as a PHD student. Reshma'sresearch during this time involved discovering a novel mechanism of regulation on mutant p53 protein in cancer cells. Reshma gained skills in cloning, CRISPR, PCR, cell culture and maintenance, mice handling, IV and IP injections, confocal microscopy, and exosome isolation.

Currently, Reshma is working as a Senior Scientist l at oNKo-innate Pty Ltd since June 2019. The details of their role in the company are not provided.

Reshma Vijayakumaran completed their Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University from 2007 to 2011. Reshma pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biology, General from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras from 2011 to 2014. Following that, they attended the University of Melbourne from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Oncology and Cancer Biology. No information is provided regarding their primary or secondary education.
