Deana Prochnau has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2016 when they were a Research Assistant at the Center for Dementia Research at Rockland Psychiatric Center. In 2017, they were a Research Intern at the Center for Rehabilitation Technology at Helen Hayes Hospital, where they were NIH certified in “Protecting Human Subject Research Participants” and collected and analyzed human electroencephalography (EEG) data. In 2018, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Cognitive Systems Laboratory where they used Brain-Computer Interface technology to model human response time and improve the design of Webspeller. Deana also worked as a Cell and Molecular Biology Co-op at Yumanity Therapeutics. In 2019, they were a Manhattan Engineering & Operations Co-op at Virtudent, and a Biomedical Engineering Intern and Biomedical Engineer at MirrorMe3D. In 2020, they worked as a COVID-19 Contact Tracer for the New York State Department of Health. Currently, they are a Product Development Engineer at Onkos Surgical.
Deana Prochnau received their Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Northeastern University in May 2021. Deana attended Clarkstown High School North from 2012 to 2016. In addition to their degree, Deana also holds certifications in COVID-19 Contact Tracing from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (June 2020), An Individual's Right to Access and Obtain Their Health Information Under HIPAA from Medscape (July 2019), Maintaining Medical Professionalism Online: Posting of Patient Information from Medscape (July 2019), and Protecting Human Subject Research Participants from the National Institute of Health (May 2017).
